Leaving on a Jet Plane
My bags aren’t packed, I bought too much stuff
Shopped too often, couldn’t get enough
My suitcase is fifty kilos overweight,
But it’s time to go, of this I’m sure
It’s been a fantastic Study Tour
I’d stay longer but I’ve run out of yuan,
So xie, xie, goodbye Beijing
I enjoyed about everything
Except the plumbing
And doses of Cipro
I’m leaving on a jet plane
Don’t know when I’ll be back again,
Zai jian, I hate to go,
I’ve sweated gallons, walked many miles
But I’ve seen a billion people’s smiles
I still can’t speak Chinese, but I’ve learned some things
From the lights of Shanghai, to the streets of Chongqing
From the Chengdu kids to bus rides in Kangding
China’s great- and I’ve lots more to learn,
So xie, xie, goodbye Beijing
I enjoyed about everything
Except the plumbing
And doses of Cipro
I’m leaving on a jet plane
Don’t know when I’ll be back again,
Zai jian, I hate to go,
