The story of the scientific analyses of the Andean mummies found by Keith Muscutt and his colleagues. Various experts come to the same conclusion--the thousand-year-old mummies are Chachapoyan, not Incan. After the mummies sit in boxes for a year while political disputes are worked out, they are x-rayed and conserved. Radiocarbon dating and DNA testing prove the mummies are related to each other, and amazingly, have living descendants in the region, who are interviewed.
